Candidates opt risky campaign amid Covid-19

The 17th biennial election of Bangladesh Film Artists Association is going to be held on 28th January at BFDC.

The contest on election campaign of the two panels became close since the submission of nomination papers. One is playing a soundbox and dances, while other is protesting against that dance. Apart from this, various issues are coming up in the country's media every day centering on the election. However, the entry of outsiders was at the center of the discussion this time in the artist's association election. Although both sides explained their position on the issue, the size of crowd inside the FDC is no means less. This is the only film industry in the country where a festive atmosphere prevails with crowds of people from noon to night centering on the election. As a result, the risk of corona transmission has increased many folds over. The Ilias Kanchan-Nipun, and Misha-Zayed panel is campaining every day within this risk.

City News Dhaka talks with actor Riaz about the risk of covid infection. "Our panel has always respected the rules set by the government," he said. That is why I am carrying out the election campaign following the restrictions of the government and the election commissioner. He then described the current state of coronavirus, saying, "Coronavirus is an international problem. We all take this issue seriously. Especially our government is very careful about this. So we all have to be careful about that. " 

Riaz further said, "You may not always have a mask on your face when it comes to elections. But who are actively involved in campaigns and who are associated with candidates on campaign should follow the hygiene rules and use hand sanitizers after wearing face masks. Because it is important to be healthy first.

When City News contacted Misha-Zayed panel about the matter, incumbent general secretary and candidate of the panel Zayed Khan did not respond.

In Ilias Kanchan-Nipun panel Riaz and DA Tayeb are contesting for vice-president, Simon Sadiq for vice-general secretary, Shahanur as organizational secretary, Nirab for international affairs secretary, Arman for office and publicity secretary, Emon for culture and sports secretary and Azad Khan for treasurer. Amit Hasan, Shakil Khan, Nana Shah, Afzal Sharif, Sanko Panja, Jasmine, Keya, Pori Moni, Gangua and Simanta are contesting for members of the executive council from this panel.

In Misha-Zayed panel Monwar Hossain Dipzal and Rubel will contest for the post of vice-president, Subrata for vice-general secretary, Alexander Bo for organizational secretary, Joy Chowdhury for international affairs secretary, JK Alamgir for office and publicity secretary and Zakir Hossain for culture and sports secretary. Farhad will contest for the post of treasurer. Rozina, Anjana, Sucharita, Aruna Biswas, Moushumi, Asif Iqbal, Bapparaj, Aliraj, Nader Khan and Hasan Jahangir are contesting for the post of members of the executive council.
