ACC U-19 Asia Cup: Bangladesh to face Sri Lanka to decide semifinalists

Bangladesh will play against Sri Lanka on Wednesday to decide the semifinalists of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Under-19s Asia Cup from Group B.

The match will kick off at 11:30 am on Wednesday at the ACC Academy ground in Dubai, UAE.

Hosts United Arab Emirates (UAE) will play all-losers Japan in another Group B match of the ACC U-19 Asia Cup on Wednesday at the ACC Academy Ground 2 in Dubai.

After the second round of Group B matches, Bangladesh topped the list with an all-win run, securing a full four points and a good run rate of 2.688. Sri Lanka and the UAE followed, collecting two points each with run rates of 1.708 and -0.504, respectively, while Japan are at the bottom without any points with a run rate of -5.697.

In the four-team Group A, Pakistan emerged champions, securing a full six points; India finished runners-up, collecting four points; and Afghanistan became third with two points while pointless. Nepal finished fourth and last.

Earlier, Bangladesh made a flying start in the four-team Group B, outplaying the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 61 runs in the first match and outplaying Japan by nine wickets with 232 balls remaining in the second match.

Sri Lanka also made a good start, beating Japan by seven wickets in the first match but losing to the hosts UAE by two wickets in the second match.

Both the semifinals of the U19 Asia Cup will be played on Friday (December 15), while the final match is billed for December 17.
