The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will form human chain in cities and towns across the country on Sunday marking International Human Rights Day.
The party did not call hartal and blockade on that day.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi informed this in a virtual press briefing on Thursday, on the last day of the tenth phase of blockade enforced by the party and its allies.
He said the BNP will organise human chains protesting alleged government repression.
Party sources said BNP will hold a human chain programme in front of the National Press Club in the capital, where families of BNP leaders and activists, who have been victims of enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, false arrests, and other rights violations, will attend.
Similar programmes will be held across the country.
The BNP and like-minded parties had been enforcing back-to-back nationwide blockades and hartals since October 29.
