Criticising a news report published in India`s media, BNP senior joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said the Indian government and ruling circle in New Delhi should try to understand why people of Bangladesh are taking stand against their country.
"They have taken a firm stand against the people of Bangladesh by extending support blindly to an authoritarian fascist government," he said in a brief speech after a procession that was brought out at Kamal Ataturk Avenue at Banani in the capital on Sunday morning, the first day of 48-hour blockade programme.
Apart from Rizvi, BNP leaders took part in the procession.
The BNP leader said, "The aim of the ongoing blockade programme is to restore democracy, voting rights of people and returning the ownership of people to them."
"This programme of us is totally a peaceful programme. Leaders and workers have taken to the street. People have also joined with them. Our blockade programme will continue until the fall of this government," he said.
Mentioning that the government is witnessing darkness everywhere, Rizvi said the government is not only becoming isolated from people, but also witnessing darkness around them.
The procession was participated by Dhaak District BNP president Khondker Abu Ashfaque, central assistant youth affair secretary Mir Newaz Ali, assistant health secretary Dr Parvez Reza Kanon and other central leaders of the party.
