Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said their party is thinking whether they need 14-Party Alliance partners in the upcoming general election.
"No decision has been made yet about the nominations of the partners in the 14-Party Alliance for the 12th national parliament election," he said while talking to reporters at the Awami League president`s political office at Dhanmondi in the capital on Saturday.
The Awami League leader said if the opposition parties do not form an alliance, the Awami League may not form one as well.
Quader said: "We won`t form an alliance if it isn`t necessary. We will only form alliance with those who are approved by the people."
On nominations of party leaders, he said: "We are giving nominations to both new and old leaders. We must reconsider the old ones in cases where people no longer accept them. Popular people will get nomination."
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the president of the party and the parliamentary nomination board, will host an exchange meeting with Awami League candidates for the 12th National Parliament Election on Sunday at Ganabhaban, her official residence.
This time, 3,362 Awami League party nomination forms have been sold. The party has earned Tk 16.81 crore in revenue.
It may be mentioned that the ruling Awami League had formed the 14-Party Alliance or `Mohajot` with some political parties before the 9th parliamentary election back in 2004.
