Instability grows if a govt clings to power for long time: GM Quader

Jatiya Party chairman GM Quader has said, "We are not doing any development. Rather, we are tirturing people, looting their resources. We have introduced extreme autocracy in the name of democracy in Bangladesh. We will have to save the country from here."

He was speaking at a function of joining of lawyers at the Jatiya Party office at Banani in the capital on Saturday.

The JaPa chairman said that making references to law and constitution would yield no result. "Law and constitution may be right, but we are getting results of selection, not election. The government has created some examples at different times. Now they would not be able to hold a free and fair election despite they want it.

According to the Jatiya Party secretary general, perhaps it is not true that stability prevails in a country if a government remains in power for a long time. "Rather, the seeds of instability start flourishing if a government clings to power for a long time. Change is normal thing. One leader will leave and another will come, which exists in India and the United States."

"We want such a government which will ensure social and economic stability in a country in spite of the possibility of leaving the power," he said, adding that it would attract foreign direct investment and help people to move around.
