Four-day ‘Hill Tracts Fair and Youth Festival‍‍` opened in city

The four-day ‍‍`Hill Tracts Fair and Youth Festival-2025‍‍` was opened at Chattogram Hill Tracts Complex Ground on Bailey Road here.

Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Adviser Supradip Chakma, Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan and Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md Nahid Islam jointly inaugurated the event. 

Supradip Chakma, Chairman of Chittagong Hill Tracts Refugee Rehabilitation Task Force Sudatta Chakma, Chairman of the Bandarban Hill Tracts District Council Professor Thanjama Lusai, Associate Professor of AIUB English Department Baren Lal Tripura and Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Ministry‍‍`s Secretary (routine charge) Dr. Rashida Ferdous also took part in the discussion.

Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain, Home Affairs Adviser Lt. Gen. (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Primary and Mass Education Adviser Professor Dr. Bidhan Ranjan Roy Poddar, Religious Affairs Adviser Dr. AFM Khalid Hossain, Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Adviser‍‍`s wife Nandita Chakma, Chairmen of 3 District Councils of CHT, secretaries, senior officials and representatives of local and foreign organizations, as well as officials of the CHT ministry were present there.

At the inaugural session, traditional flutes and musical instruments were played followed by lighting the ‍‍`Mongol Deep (Welfare Lamp)‍‍`. 

After the inaugural ceremony, the advisers went round the fair ground where some 83 stalls have been set up.

A reception was also accorded to SAF winner footballers Rituparna Chakma, Rupna Chakma, Monika Chakma, international referee Joya Chakma, national boxing champion Sukrishna Chakma, Ironman Rajesh Chakma living in CHT. 
Later, the guests enjoyed a colourful cultural function.

The four-day fair will continue till February 1.
