A fire broke out in a private bank branch, housed in a four-storey building, on Nawabpur Road in old Dhaka`s Gulistan area early Monday.
The fire originated in Al-Arafah Islami Bank Ltd branch on the second floor of the building around 1:50am, said Fire Service duty officer Rashed Bin Khalid.
Responding to the call, five fire-fighting units from the nearby Siddique Bazar station rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control at about 2:10am.
The reason behind the blaze and damages caused by it could not be known immediately, the duty official added.
