Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader has said that those who will not pay taxes, they will have to face punishment.
Referring to the BNP`s noon-cooperation movement, he said they will be punished if they refuse to pay tax and VAT.
Quader made the remarks while talking to newsmen at Awami League president`s Dhanmondi political office in the capital on Sunday afternoon.
The AL leader said, "They won`t pay tax, VAT, utility bills; is it their father`s property? It is totally hilarious. Is the country going to be liberated again? Is it Bangabandhu`s non-cooperation? What an audacity? They have become insane."
"They will fail if they take part in election. They have failed getting involved in movement. What is now ahead of them? Their political existence will become more sqeezed through boycotting this election. Their political future will also become more contracted. They will face uncertainty for their negative politics. They have adopted the path of terrorism. The politics of terrorism and democracy are completely opposite," said Quader.
Mentioning that uttering the word `democracy` doesn`t fit in their mouth who resort to terrorist politics anywhere in the world. "Democracy can`t be rescued by resorting to terrorism. It didn`t happen anywhere in the world."
Regarding the BNP`s non-cooperation movement. Quader said, "BNP won`t pay tax, but they will have to go to jail if they don`t pay tax. They will have to face punishment if they don`t pay utility bills. If they don`t pay electricity bills, their power lines will be severed. If they don`t pay water bills, their water lines will be cutt off. It is easy. They will face punishment if they don`t pay tax and VAT."
