The Directorate of National Consumers` Right Protection (DNCRP) fined two establishment Tk 40,000 in the capital for selling date-expired and illegal medicines.
A team from the directorate conducted separate raids in the city`s Baridhara area on Thursday and imposed Bikhyato Kabiraj Ghar Tk 20,000 and Baridhara General Hospital Tk 20,000.
Abdul Jabbar Mandol, assistant director of DNCRP Dhaka district office, and Farhana Islam Ajanta, assistant director of its Dhaka divisional office, led the raids.
Jabbar Mandol said Bikhyato Kabiraj Ghar was selling illegal medicines placing signboard of Sadhona Oushodhaloy and adding extra time on expired date that are offensive deeds.
On the other hand, Baridhara General Hospital using date-expired medicines for different types of tests, he added.
