Election observers from nine countries have so far confirmed to visit Bangladesh to monitor the upcoming general election to be held on January 7.
It was revealed by the foreign ministry`s spokesperson Seheli Sabrin at the ministry`s weekly briefing held on Thursday afternoon.
Replying to a question, Sabrin said the nine countries are India, SriLanka, China, Russia, Japan, Uzbekistan, Mauritius, Georgia and Palestine which would send observers to monitor the elections.
Besides, she said, OIC, Commonwealth and Arab Parliament will also send observers to observe the elections.
Currently, a four-member EU expert panel is in Dhaka to observe the election.
The EU delegation is schedule to leave the country on January 24.
