Candidates will be able to send SMS to the mobile numbers of voters seeking votes during the 12th Jatiya Sangsad election.
They will also be able to use party symbols or party names.
It was stated in a press release issued by the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) on Thursday. It was signed by BTRC deputy director Md Asif Wahid.
The press release says that any candidate taking part in the national or local elections in Bangladesh will be able to send SMS maintaining electoral code of conduct and mentioning the election symbol. The candidate will also be able to send SMS mentioning that what steps he will take for the people in his/her constituency if he/she is elected.
