A rare incident happened in the history of the Judiciary of Bangladesh as 11 Chief Justices came in one frame at a get-together event.
On Sunday afternoon, 10 former Chief Justices gathered at the resident of incumbent Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan on 19 Hare Road in the capital.
Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan himself took the initiative to gather the former Chief Justices - A T M Afzal, K M Hasan, Syed J R Modassir Hossain, Md Ruhul Amin, Md Tafazzul Islam, Mohammad Fazlul Karim, A B M Khairul Haque, Md Muzammel Hossain, Syed Mahmud Hossain and Hasan Foez Siddique.
First, the former Chief Justices unveiled the plaque written in Bengali and English languages with the history of the Chief Justice`s residence.
They joined a photo session together and, later, planted 11 mango trees of improved variety in the courtyard of the residence of Chief Justice.
That scene will never be forgotten when Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan made the former Chief Justices be seated in the chairs holding their hands one after another.
Muhammad Saifur Rahman, registrar of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, said, "11 Chief Justices never came in one frame at a time before that. It has been possible for the great initiative taken by Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan. It will be a memorable day in the history of Judiciary.
During the great moment of the gathering, other Justices and officials of the Supreme Court were present there.
