45 arrested in anti-drug drives in city

Police in separate anti-drug drives arrested 45 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs.

According to a release issued by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), police conducted these operations against drug sellers and consumers in different areas under various police stations in the metropolis in the last 24 hours till Saturday morning and arrested 45 people for their alleged involvement in drug trafficking.

The law enforcers also recovered huge drugs, including 3,726 pieces of contraband yaba tablets, 200 grams of heroine, 34.100 kilograms of cannabis (ganja), 35 bottles of phensidyle syrup and 40 litres of locally made liquor from their possessions, the release added.

Police also filed 36 separate cases against the arrestees in these connections with respective police stations under the Narcotics Control Act.
