The Directorate of National Consumers` Rights Protection (DNCRP) on Monday fined a total of 122 shops Tk 8.21 lakhs across the country for selling onions at higher prices.
The directorate conducted raids in 50 districts and imposed the fine, a DNCRP press release said on Sunday night.
It said they conducted operations across the country in order to keep the supply and price of essential commodities including onions stable.
That kind of activities of the directorate will be continued further to protect the consumers` rights, it added.
