Miscreants set fire on two trucks on the Dhaka-Bogura highway at Sherpur upazila in Bogura district on Monday just before the countrywide 48-hour hartal called by BNP, Jamaat and like-minded opposition parties ended.
The incident took place at around 11.30pm in Dashmail area of the upazila.
According to locals, a group of arsonists stopped the sand and banana laden trucks and set on fire while one of the truck was going to Dhaka from Kahalu and another was heading towards Joypurhat.
Being informed, firefighting units rushed there and doused the blaze, said Nadir Hossain, Sherpur Fire Station officer.
However, no casualties were reported in this incident as the drivers and helpers managed to get off from the vehicles before arsonists set fire on it, he said.
Sherpur Police Station officer-in-charge Babu Kumar Saha said police are trying to arrest the identify and arrest involved persons.
