Two brothers drowned in a pond in Gazipur`s Shreepur upazila on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased were Tamim Hossain, 7, and Ismail Hossain, sons of Al Amin, hailed from Rifzipara village under Barmi union of the upazila.
According to locals, Tamim and Ismail were playing with other children near their house in the afternoon. At one point, Ismail fell into a nearby pond and drowned. Meanwhile, Tamim tried to rescue him but Tamim also fell into the pond and drowned.
Later, local people rescued Ismail`s body. Tamim was missing at that time. His body was also recovered from the pond around 3:30 pm after searching.
Sreepur Police Station officer-in-charge Abul Fazal Mohammad Nasim confirmed the news.
