Traffic movement on the Chattogram-Cox‍‍`s Bazar highway returned to normal after two days this morning as flood water has receded from the highway.

"The water started receding since yesterday. Some vehicles started plying the road since last night. There is no water on the road today and vehicles‍‍` movement returned to normal this morning," Khan Md Irfan, officer-in-charge of Dohazari Highway Police Station.

However, vehicular movement was slow at different points as potholes developed due to the rain and submersion, he said.

Suman Singha, executive engineer of Chattogram Road Division (south), said the water receded from Chattogram-Cox‍‍`s Bazar highway last night.

The water went down to two-three feet below the road surface, he said.

Saiful Islam, member secretary of Cox‍‍`s Bazar Bus Counter Owner-Manager Association, said several buses left Cox‍‍`s Bazar for Dhaka and Chattogram in the morning.

Incessant rain and overflowing rivers submerged vast areas of Chattogram division and shut down communication between Cox‍‍`s Bazar and Bandarban, and Cox‍‍`s Bazar and Chattogram.
