Dengue fever is continuously claiming lives as fourteen more people died from it across the country during the last 24 hours till Saturday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease to 989 this year.
Of the 14 deaths, eight were in Dhaka and the other six were outside it, said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
It said a total of 2,425 patients were admitted during this time to different hospitals throughout the country. With the new data, a total of 2,03,306 were infected this year.
Among the new patients, 751 people were admitted to the hospitals in Dhaka and 1,674 were hospitalised outside it.
According to data from the DGHS, 9,959 dengue patients are undergoing treatment at different hospitals across the country yesterday morning.
A total of 1,92,458 patients have so far been released from hospitals across the country this year.
The country logged 281 dengue deaths in 2022 – the highest on record after 179 deaths recorded in 2019. Also, it recorded 62,423 dengue cases and 61,971 recoveries last year.
