A team of United International University (UIU) from Bangladesh have clinched a landmark victory at the International Blockchain Olympiad in Amsterdam, Netherlands, showcasing the country`s burgeoning talent in blockchain technology.
Team `Apocalypse` from UIU, comprising Sadia Ahmmed, Sahid Hossain Ratul, Jishanul Islam, and Aadiba Tasneem Anam, achieved the gold medal under the event`s theme "A Digital Journey to our Sustainable Future" becoming the first team from Bangladesh ever who has won the world championship in the International Blockchain Olympiad competition.
The final round of competition was held on 17 November 2023 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Founded in 2017, the International Blockchain Olympiad (IBCOL) continues to provide students from around the world with a platform to address real-world challenges using cutting-edge blockchain solutions.
With the participations of 45 teams from 20 countries over the world including Bangladesh, Canada, China, Europe, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Italy, Kazakhstan, Macedonia, Malaysia, Mexico, Mongolia, Netherlands, Philippines, Russia, Taiwan, Ukraine, United Kingdom, and Vietnam, IBCOL 2023 brought together a diverse array of perspectives and expertise.
Team Apocalypse of UIU from Bangladesh emerged as the champion, earning the prestigious World Champion (Gold Winner) for their project with the 1st Highest Overall Score. The team will receive €2400 prize money along with a certificate for the achievement.
In addition to the championship award in the competition, another teamof UIU ‘Team Unchained’received the Award of Merit for their noteworthy contribution through the use of modern blockchaintechnology. It is also mentioned that,The "Team Apocalypse" of United International University won the Silver Award (Student Category) in the 4thBlockchain Olympiad Bangladesh 2023 competition held on July 25, 2023 in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
