Prof Maksud Kamal made DU VC

Prof Dr ASM Maksud Kamal has been made the 29th vice-chancellor of Dhaka University (DU).

Prof Kamal of the Disaster Science and Management department has been appointed as the pro-VC (academic) of the university in 2020.

The current VC Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman‍‍`s tenure will expire on November 2.

Prof Kamal, elected dean of the Earth and Environmental Sciences Faculty in 2012, was elected president of the Duta four consecutive times.

He was also the convener of Blue Panel, an Awami League-backed teacher organisation, at the university.

Besides Dhaka University, he has been contributing as a member of Senate, Syndicate and Academic Council of various universities. He was associated with various socio-cultural and political organizations since his student life.
