BUET student found dead in city

Police recovered the body of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) from his house at Hazaribagh area in the capital city on Thursday morning.

The deceased was identified as Rakibul Hossain Rafi, 21, a second-year student of Department of Chemical Engineering at the university. He lived with his parents and elder sister in the house on Baddanagar area of the city.

Hazaribagh Police Station officer-in-charge Abdul Ahad said Rafi's brother called the national emergency helpline 999 after seeing his hanging body at their residence.

Being informed, police went there and found his room was locked from the inside. Police broke into the room and found Rafi’s body hanging from the ceiling.

Later, police managed to recover the body at around 11am, he added.

Ismail Hossain, an inspector of the police station said a note was found in the room. It read, “Ma, please forgive me.”

The body was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy, he added.
