Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has emphasized the importance of protecting votes as one would safeguard their own land. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and, if necessary, ensure security at polling stations.
Speaking at the annual sports and cultural competition event of Master Taleb Ullah Model School & College and Hafez Jalal Uddin Ideal Hafezkhana in Kutubdia, Cox`s Bazar, on Saturday (February 22), the CEC called for nationwide participation in ensuring free and fair elections.
He stated, "A movement will be launched to secure voting rights for all citizens. Just as you protect your land, you must also protect your vote. If needed, ensure security at the polling centres as well."
Nasir Uddin expressed his vision of an election process that feels like a national celebration, comparing it to the joy of Eid. He urged voters to elect patriotic, honest, and capable leaders, believing that such choices would help solve the country`s challenges.
The CEC reiterated the Election Commission`s commitment to neutrality and fairness. "We do not serve any particular interest, nor will we. Our goal is to conduct an impartial, transparent, and error-free election," he affirmed.
Additionally, he warned against any disruptions at polling stations, stating that acts of violence or obstruction would not be tolerated.
The event was attended by Kutubdia Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Kathoaypru Marma, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mohammad Sadat Hossain, Kutubdia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Arman Hossain, former UP Chairman and Kutubdia Press Club President ANM Shahid Uddin Choton, and Director of Islamia Tahfizul Quran Academy, Chattogram, Alhaj Maulana Hafez Alimul Haque Chowdhury Al Azahari, along with many others.
