Police recovered the half-melted body of a man from a manhole at New Market area in Rajshahi city on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Noynal Uddin, 40, a resident of Shyampur area under Katakhali municipality in Paba upazila of the district.
Boalia Police Station officer-in-charge Humayun Kabir said,"A night-guard of multi-storey building, owned by Omar Farooq Chowdhury, who is member of parliament for Rajshahi-1 constituency, saw the body in a manhole next to the building and informed police."
Being informed, police rushed to the spot and recovered the half melted body from inside the manhole at around 11.30am, he said.
OC Humayun also said that it seems like the person was killed by miscreants a few days ago and dumped in the manhole.
Members of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) visited the spot.
Later, the body was sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy and the legal action would be taken in this regard, the OC added.
