Two held with 14kg hemp in Bagerhat

An operational team of Detective Branch of Police (DB) in a drive arrested two alleged drug peddlers along with 14 kilograms of hemp from Fakirhat upazila in Bagerhat district on Tuesday morning.

The arrested are Fatema Begum, wife of Kawser Hawlader, and Emon Hossain Raju, 25, both were residents of Morrelganj upazila in the district.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of DB police conducted a raid in a Saudia Paribahan bus at Katakhali area and arrested the duo along with the drugs, said Swapan Roy, an inspector of Bagerhat District DB police.

Process to file a case in this regard was underway, the DB official added.
