Police filed two separate cases accusing over 300 BNP under Special Powers Act with Nandail and Haluaghat Police Stations in Mymensingh district.
Md Rasheduzzaman, officer-in-charge of Nandail Police Station confirmed the matter adding that Md Rubel Mia, sub-inspector the police station, filed the case on Friday morning accusing 265 BNP men, including 115 identified activists, on charge of attacking policemen around 11:00am on Thursday.
Meanwhile, another case was lodged by a sub-inspector of Haluaghat Police Station, Saiduzzaman, against 43 BNP men, including 18 named persons. The case was filed with the police station on Thursday afternoon following an attack on police carried out by BNP supporters on Wednesday evening, said Sumon Chandra Roy, officer-in-charge of the police station.
It was known that at least three BNP activists were arrested in connection with the cases.
"Police fired 12 rounds of rubber bullets and three rounds of teargas shells to bring the situation under control and arrested a Sramik Dal leader, Abdul Awal, 35, from the spot," said Nandail Police Station OC Rasheduzzaman.
He also claimed that two policemen were injured during the incident and given first aid.
On the other hand, police arrested two BNP activists -- Irfan Ali and Al Amin in connection with the case, and a local court sent them to jail later on Thursday, said Haluaghat Police Station OC Sumon.
Meanwhile, BNP leaders and activists claimed that at least 30 BNP men were injured as policemen attacked on a procession brought out by the BNP men and foiled it on Thursday morning, on the second day of countrywide blockade.
