A worker was burned to death and three others received burn injuries in a fire that broke out at a steel mill at Kadamtoli in Shyampur area of the capital early Sunday.
The deceased was Rabiul Islam, 27, a worker of Based Steel Mill, from Barguna district, and the injured were -- identified as Mazharul Islam, 37; Shah alam, 35; and Ashirul Islam, 35.
Quoting worker of the mill, officer-in-charge of Kadamtoli Police Station, Proloy Kumar Saha, said that the fire broke out at the mill on Saturday night while some workers were melting iron rods.
At one stage, an explosion took place, leaving four workers injured.
They were immediately taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where Rabiul succumbed to his injuries around 4am. Shah Alam and Mazharul were given first aid.
Rabiul sustained 26 per cent burn injuries, he added.
