Probe committee formed over fire at Tangail train

The railway authority has formed a three-member probe committee to investigate a fire that broke out in a parked commuter train at Gharinda Railway Station in Tangail Sadar upazila early Thursday.

Shah Sufi Noor, divisional manager (Pakshi) of Bangladesh Railway, Police Super Sarker Mohammad Kayser, and others visited the spot on Thursday.

The official Shah Sufi Noor has said primarily, it seems to be an act of sabotage. The details can be informed later after investigation.

According to the source of the station, a Panchagarh-bound train arrived at the station at 2:53 am Thursday. Later, the fire was spotted at the commuter train at 3:05 am.

He said being informed fire fighter arrived in the area and brought the blaze under control.

During the incident two compartments of the train were completely burnt and one was partially damaged.
