BNP joint secretary general Khairul Kabir Khokon has been placed on one day remand in two Chhatra Dal leaders` murder case in Narsingdi.
Narsingdi senior judicial magistrate Mehedi Hasan`s court passed the order on Tuesday (November 14) afternoon.
Narsingdi district detective branch`s officer-in-charge Khokon Chandra Sarker said the court placed Khairul Kabir Khokon on one day remand after they pleaded for a six-day remand.
According to the case statement, the expelled Chhatra Dal leaders brought out a protest procession with more than 100 motorcycles in Narsingdi town on May 25 last. When the procession reached in front of the district BNP`s makeshift office at Chinishpur, miscreants opened fire at it injuring former joint convener of district JCD Sadequr Rahman Sadeq and his associate Ashraful Huq. Then Sadequr Rahman died on his way to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital, while Ashraful died on the following day.
Later, being the plaintiff, the slain`s Sadeq`s younger brother Altaf Hossain filed a murder case at Narsingdi Model Police Station against 30 district BNP leaders including Khairul Kabir Khokon and his wife Shirin Sultana. Khokon obtained six weeks` bail from higher court in the case.
Khokon`s bail was expired on July 27 last. In sequel to it, Narsingdi district DB police arrested Khokon on October 10 last and handed him over to court.
Apart from two JCD leaders` murder case, there are 14 cases now under trial against Khairul Kabir Khokon with Ramna Police Station, Paltan Police Station, Motijheel Police Station, Vatara Police Station, Shahbagh Police Station, and Narsingdi Police Station.
