At least six workers sustained burn injuries after a fire broke out at a oil-laden cargo on Shitalakshya River in Narayanganj's Rupganj upazila.
The incident happened at about 2:30am on Sunday.
Critically burnt six workers were admitted to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), said Ichhapura river police outpost in-charge Mahbubur Rahman.
He said suddenly the fire broke out at the oil-laden cargo named Shanghai around 2:30am when it reached Dorikandi area of the upazila. The flames rose 20 to 30 feet and all the six workers were burnt in the fire.
Being informed, Fire Services personnel went to the spot and managed to douse the blaze.
The cargo manager Akber Ali went into hiding soon after the incident.
